Alumni Spotlight – Luke Conrad, DC West Class of ’09

Luke graduated from DC West High School in 2009 and continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney studying Business Management with minors in International Business and Spanish. During his time at UNK, Luke was able to study abroad for a summer in Seoul, South Korea and for a semester in Lima, Peru.

Today, Luke works for Werner Enterprises / Werner de Mexico. He began working in the Omaha office 6 years ago before moving to Mexico City, Mexico in November 2018 where he is an Intermodal Pricing Specialist for the Mexico market. While in Mexico, Luke has continued developing his Spanish language skills and has had the opportunity to travel the country making new acquaintances and experiencing the unique and welcoming culture that Mexico has to offer. He says, “It’s been an incredible journey, and it has been a life goal of mine to learn the language in the easiest possible way–from those who speak it.”

Luke contributes a great deal of success to his educational foundation at DC West and is proud to talk about how his Public School roots have contributed to both his personal and professional success. He says, “I look back fondly at my time there, the friendships I made and still have today, the broad involvement from sports to speech and band, and the teachers who helped get us prepared for college and the world ahead.”

Thank you for sharing Luke, what a journey! We love to see alumni doing such amazing things!
